Choco-Ginger Recovery Smoothie

IMG_4460After a great workout with Evandro at Commonwealth Sports Club and the sweaty bike ride home, this recovery smoothie hit the spot.  Add everything to your blender roughly in this order and zip it up for a smooth chocolate zing.

1 cup water
1 packet SFH Pure – chocolate
1 med banana
1 granny smith apple
1 cup carrots
1/8 to 1/4 inch round of raw ginger (about circumference of a nickel)
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
2 cups frozen spinach
1.5 tbs aloe vera
1 tsp maca powder

Creamy Ginger Greens

gingerrootToday’s second breakfast (first breakfast was 3 slices of bacon, black coffee, 8-10 oz of water).

Put everything in your blender in the following order and blend until smooth.

1.5-2 cups water
2-3 cups Olivia’s Cooking Greens (kale, spinach, chard, collards)
3/4 inch disc of fresh ginger root
1 large gala apple
1/4 cup raw cashews
2 tbs of protein powder (been using hemp lately)

Cacao Superfood Smoothie

Another in my series of “pantry pick” smoothies, and in keeping with my family reputation as an eater of dirt, I offer today’s superfood smoothie.  No doubt this is influenced by David Wolfe’s concoctions but I did just come up with this based on what I had on hand.

cacaosuperfoodsmoothiePut everything in your blender in the following order and blend until smooth.

  • 2 cups, homemade, really raw, almond milk (added cinnamon)
  • 2 big handfuls spinach
  • 2 tbs cacao powder
  • 1/4 to 3/8 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 tsp to 1 tbs pumpkin seeds, raw
  • 1 tbs flax meal
  • 2 to 4 medjool dates to taste for sweetness
  • 1/2 to 1 tsp chlorela
